Visible Green Home® Pond Hill LEED®/Net Zero Energy Home Tour
Visible Green Home® Tour series is back, LIVE and IN-PERSON, after a two-and-a-half year hiatus due to the pandemic! In celebration of the return to a live event format we are pleased to announce our very first VGH® tour held in conjunction with the Builders and Remodelers of Greater Ann Arbor annual Showcase of Homes event. We are presenting the Pond Hill LEED®/Net Zero Energy home.
This exciting new home construction project in Northville, Michigan is the city’s first home both registered with the USGBC LEED® for Homes program with the certification goal of Platinum, and one that has been designed to achieve Net Zero Energy. A LEED for Homes® Platinum home is one that meets the rigorous requirements of the United States Green Building Council’s green certification standards in eight different certification categories including: Integrative Process; Location and Transportation; Sustainable Sites; Water Efficiency; Energy and Atmosphere; Materials and Resources; Indoor Environmental Quality; and Innovation. A Net Zero Energy home is a home that is designed to produce as much energy as it uses over the course of a year.
The Homes of the Future - Today®
This Visible Green Home® Tour will be offered, Saturday and Sunday, June 25th and 26th. There will be six, 30 minute guided tours offered each day every hour, on the hour: 11:00 am; 12:00 pm; 1:00 pm; 2:00 pm; 3:00 pm; 4:00 pm. Experts will be on hand to show and explain this groundbreaking home and answer questions and provide insight on this emerging, sustainable, “energy-free future” design approach. They will share how consumers can make smart, effective, sustainable, energy-saving, choices for their own homes. Each tour will last 30 minutes with 30 minutes allocated at the end of each tour to meet with attendees one-on-one and answer any individual questions you might have.
Note that although this will be a completely free event, space is limited and tours will go off on time. You will want to arrive early to allow plenty of time for parking, which will be limited. Please note that there will be no Parking on Spring Dr. at the home. Parking will be available anywhere along Orchard Dr., Grandview St. and Spring Dr. east of Orchard. See map on the directions tab.
Please be aware that this is an active construction site. Please wear suitable, durable clothing and sturdy shoes or boots for this adventure. This tour goes rain, or shine.
